Oncor offers cash incentives to help homeowners boost energy efficiency
By ELIZABETH SOUDER / The Dallas Morning News
Dallas power line company Oncor launched a new program to help people pay to upgrade their home energy efficiency.
The company, a unit of Energy Future Holdings, will pay up to $1,500 in cash incentives to individual participants, or third-party financing.
Oncor is offering the incentives with Energy Star, a program backed by the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency. Any existing home is eligible.
First, participant homes undergo an energy efficiency test. Then, the contractor recommends specific home improvements to boost energy savings the most.
